New National Sponsor
Our newest national sponsors, Carolina Pad and JACK!E, have created the “Dreamsicle” line, a stylish new collection of school and office supplies that were inspired by both the Girls on the Run mission and our founder, Molly Barker. These products, part of the Commerce with a Conscience partnership between Carolina Pad and JACK!E will be available in major retail outlets, including Wal-Mart, Office Max, and CVS, for the Back-to-school season in August 2010.
“It is my mission to not only pay it forward, but to pay it forward beautifully.” said Jackie McFee, designer of all things “luscious” for JACK!E. Carolina Pad CEO Clay Presley hopes this collection will help increase awareness of the Girls on the Run mission. “We know that our consumers have a personal connection to their notebook and they choose designs that work with their individual style.”
In addition to producing and distributing Dreamsicle, the Commerce with a Conscience partnership will support Girls on the Run in other ways, including the re-design and production of the program curriculum, donations of running journals to all program participants during the 2010-2011 school year, and the creation of additional products to be used as fundraising tools by Girls on the Run councils.
The Dreamsicle collection is available at www.carolinapad.com and in retail stores nationwide beginning in August 2010. For more information on the JACK!E Dreamsicle Collection, visit http://jackiemcfee.com/dreamsicle.php.
Grant News:
We are excited to announce that through a generous grant from the Atlanta Track Club Foundation and our partnership with New Balance and Phidippides Running Store, we will be able to provide new New Balance running shoes for all 100 of our fall full-scholarship participants.
In keeping with our goal to increase our programs in Title I schools, we initiated a grant partnership with the James M. Cox Foundation of Cox Enterprises. Funding will allow us to deliver additional programs in underserved areas and to offer more scholarships to girls in need.
Local Sponsor News:
We are happy to announce that Great Harvest Bread Company has just joined GOTR ATL officially as a local sponsor and community partner. Great Harvest will continue to provide delicious pre-race carbs with their famous, whole grain bread at this year’s Girls on the Run Atlanta 5K races.
Great Harvest handcrafts bread daily using only pure and simple ingredients. Each morning we fresh-grind premium whole wheat in the bakery and blend it with basic, natural ingredients like yeast, salt and honey. Great Harvest never uses chemicals, additives or mixes. The result is bread, sweets and sandwiches that simply taste amazing.
Our bakery is locally owned and operated. It’ s no surprise, then, that we are passionate about being genuine – in our craft, in our customer service, and in our community commitment. Along with this, we work really hard to make sure that our customers have a great experience and our employees have fun while working hard.
Great Harvest also provides kid’s tours of their bakery including a farm-to-table education on wheat, a demonstration of our mill, and some hands on learning. I can’t wait to take my nephews for a tour the next time they visit.
