Our team of volunteers represents a dynamic group of individuals, including teachers, athletes, businesswomen, and parents -all of whom possess a great enthusiasm for helping to prepare girls for a healthy and happy adolescence and adulthood. Girls on the Run of Atlanta serves approximately 1,000 girls in the metro Atlanta area each year. With a small staff, we rely on our volunteers to help us with the many different aspects of our organization. Please take a look at our opportunities to determine what works best for your schedule. We look forward to getting you involved!
Volunteer Roles:
- COACH: GOTR Atlanta relies on volunteers to help us coach our programs. Coaches work directly with the 3rd-5th grade or 6th-8th grade girls – teaching them healthy habits and training them for the big 5K race! Each team consists of 2-3 coaches and 8-15 girls.
- Coaches must be available after-school hours.
- Our 10 week programs meet twice a week, after-school for an hour and a half. Coaches are expected to attend every session
- Coaches must complete an application/interview process and attend a 6-hour training.
- Junior Coaches – High School students, 16-18 years of age can assist with the program. Follow the same registration and training process.

- Outreach Team: The outreach team is an on-the-go group of volunteers who participate in outreach activities that raise awareness of our organization and programs. Activities include setting up info booths at race expos, staffing open houses and info sessions and representing GOTR Atlanta at local community events. Girls on the Run of Atlanta provides all required training and materials. Look for our calendar of events and outreach opportunities coming soon!
- Race Committee: The New Balance Girls on the Run 5K is the official 5K series of Girls on the Run International. If you are interested in being on the committee that does all the planning and prep work leading up to race day, this is the spot for you.

We are always looking for energetic groups to help on the day of our GOTR 5K, to cheer on our SoleMate charity runners, to adopt a team, serve as volunteer coaches, help with event staffing and more. Contact us for more information and ideas about how your company or group can become more involved with Girls on the Run of Atlanta.
