Keep on Recycling Your Sneakers!
We collected approximately 2,800 pounds of sneakers at our recent New Balance Girls on the Run 5k! Wow, that’s a lot of sneakers.
Shout outs go to Piedmont Healthcare’s Women’s Leadership Alliance and Phidippides who each collected 500+ pounds of sneakers. Renaissance Elementary School who won our “GreenSneaker Challenge” among our participating schools with 263 pounds – great job! Additional thanks to schools who turned in many, many bags of sneakers: Austin Elementary, Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School, Briarcliff Woods, Clairemont Elementary, Creek View Elementary, Morris Brandon Elementary, Jones Bridge Park, Roswell North, Elementary School, Sope Creek Elementary, Shallowford Falls Elementary and St. John Neumann School.
GreenSneakers pays GOTR for the sneakers and sends on the gently used shoes to people in need. A win-win-win.
If you missed this shoe drive, please hold on to your sneakers. We’ll be collecting them again at our Spring 5K, which will be on April 28, 2012.
